What is a reverse mortgage?

A reverse mortgage is an incredible product, designed specifically for seniors who own their own home but find themselves struggling for cash flow.

Many of these seniors will fear having to sell up and downsize, just to see out their retirement.

But a reverse mortgage allows them to use the equity in their home and convert it into a brand new income stream.

As long as you are at least 62 years of age, you may qualify to apply for this loan which takes the financial stress out of your life.

Approved applicants can relax, knowing their future is secure and that they can remain in their family home.

They can also start planning for a more comfortable standard of living, maybe even splashing out on some of life’s luxuries.

Vacations, fancy dinners, or maybe even home renovations will all come into view.

Homeowners can access their new income stream in a number of different ways including a lump sum payment, monthly instalments or a line of credit.

A mixture of all three can also be arranged.

One of the greatest features of this loan is that as long as the terms are met, there is no need to repay it until either the homeowner sells the residence or the last surviving borrower passes away.

A soaring market has seen homes in Breckenridge rise in value by an incredible 35.7 percent over the last 12 months.

By July 2022, it had taken the average price of properties in the area to a stunning $1,307,160 (https://www.zillow.com/breckenridge-co/home-values/).

There are 48 people in and around Breckenridge who are already taking advantage of a reverse mortgage with 12 of them having acquired one in the last 12 months.

About Breckenridge, Colorado

While the naming of the town of Breckenridge is somewhat blurred, it is believed to have been named in 1859 after a local prospector, Thomas Breckenridge.

In need of a post office the following year, US Vice-President John Breckinridge (note the alternate spelling) was offered the honour of having the town named after him if he agreed to build a post office.

He duly obliged but just one year later, the town reverted to its original spelling when Breckinridge was deemed a traitor, having joined the Confederate Army at the outbreak of Civil War.

The town of around 5,000 people is the biggest municipality in Summit County.

It lies at the base of the Rocky Mountains’ Tenmile Range and has been well known for its ski resort since the trails were first cut in 1961.

Alpine activities abound in summer with fly-fishing in the Blue River, white water rafting, hiking, mountain biking, three alpine slides and a rollercoaster drawing tourists to the area.

The town is not short of culture either.

The Breckenridge Festival of Film has been held in September annually since 1981 and is now complimented by the Backcountry Film Festival each January.
